BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday, just days before the crucial presidential election. On Monday morning, Patnaik embarked on a three-day official trip to New Delhi. At 4.30 p.m., he will meet with the Prime Minister in his office.

Though the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) has not released the agenda for the meeting, it is expected that the two leaders will address the presidential election as well as some issues that Odisha has with the Central government.

On Wednesday afternoon, Chief Minister Patnaik will return to Odisha. Political leaders believe that something is brewing between the BJD and the BJP, as this is his third visit to the national capital in the previous three months.
India's presidential election is scheduled for July of this year. Hence, all eyes are on Patnaik's move, as he is the only one who can secure a smooth victory for the BJP-led NDA candidate.

The opposition parties currently hold a 51.1 percent share of the Electoral College, while the BJP and its alliance allies hold 48.9%. To reach the halfway point, the NDA only needs 1.2 percent of the vote.

The BJD has 3.22 percent of the vote in Odisha Assembly, with 21 MPs (12 in Lok Sabha and nine in Rajya Sabha) and 113 MLAs. As a result, the BJD will play a critical role in the presidential election.
