Raipur: It has been decided to restore the old pension scheme in Chhattisgarh. The announcement was made by Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel's government in the wake of the budget on Wednesday. The State Budget for the year 2022-23 has announced the introduction of the old pension scheme in place of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) for employees appointed on and after January 1, 2004.
With this, Chhattisgarh has become the second state after Rajasthan to announce the implementation of the old pension scheme. Earlier, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, while presenting his fourth budget on February 23, had announced that the Congress government in the state would implement the old pension scheme (OPS) for its employees except for NPS.
Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are going to assembly elections next year. In such a situation, it is being said that the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan and then Chhattisgarh have announced the restoration of the old pension scheme to woo the voters. However, after the announcement of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, now the BJP-ruled states have also come under pressure. In fact, even in these states, the employees have started demanding the restoration of the old pension scheme.
