Shimla: Two students of a private school playing on the banks of the Sutlej river near Khaneri in Rampur of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh have gone missing. On getting information about the incident, the SDM and SP along with the staff of Rampur police station rushed to the spot.  

According to the information received, the missing juveniles are Manav Sharma (14), son of late Harish Kumar resident Hari Kufri sub-tehsil Pangna district mandi and Virendra (14), resident of village Theda Baltidhar PO Taklech tehsil Rampur. Police found the clothes and shoes of the two from the spot.

Police said that prima facie it seems that the two teenagers, who had come down in the river to bathe, were swept away in the Sutlej. However, no concrete evidence of this has been found so far. The administration, police and NDRF along with locals were present at the spot on Thursday night for search and rescue operations. A search operation is still being carried out by the NDRF. The missing children are studying in the ninth grade.
