Former captain Sunil Gavaskar is considered one of the greatest batsmen of Indian cricket. This player, who has scored more than 13 thousand runs in international cricket, had made a mistake on the cricket field today, 45 years ago, for which he has to be ashamed till today. The first ODI World Cup being played as an experiment for the first time was of 60 overs, in which a total of eight major cricket playing countries were participating. This limited-overs World Cup experiment was so successful that ODI cricket overtook Test cricket in terms of popularity.

335 runs target for victory: On June 7, 1975, the first match of the One Day World Cup was played between India and hosts England. The English team's opener Dennis Amis hit 137 runs off 147 balls. Chris Olde also played an unbeaten innings of 51 off 30 balls, with the help of which England scored 334/4 in 60 overs.

Only 36 * runs off 174 balls: During the chase of this mammoth goal, opener Sunil Gavaskar faced a total of 174 balls and scored just 36 runs with a strike of around 20. Gavaskar (Sunil Gavaskar) neither scored during the batting nor did he get out. He returned unbeaten to the pavilion.

It remained the most embarrassing defeat for 10 years: India suffered an embarrassing defeat by 202 runs in this match. This victory of the English team remained the biggest win of ODI cricket for the next nearly 10 years.
