Kochi: The 10-day festival of Onam began to fade in Kerala amid Corona infection and most people have celebrated it inside the Atham festival on Saturday. A colorful procession has not turned out on the streets like last year. The officials said that in the traditional Athachamayam procession held in Tripunithura, the capital of the then Cochin state, dances and other folk arts like Kathakali were displayed.

He said that besides hundreds of people, foreign tourists also used to gather in Tripunithura to celebrate the festival. Officials have said that in the years 2018 and 2019, the Atchamayam procession was not organized due to floods. He said that due to corona infection this year, the glow of the festival faded. According to popular legends, Raja Mahabali comes to see his subjects during Onam and the festival is celebrated with great pomp in his reception.

For your information, let us tell you that the havoc of Corona in the state is increasing rapidly. The total number of corona infected people has increased to 54,182 in the state. At the same time, the cases of corona infection in India are continuously increasing. On Sunday, 69,239 new cases were revealed. Corona patients have reached the mark of three million. But it is a matter of relief that the number of people recovering from Corona has exceeded 2.5 lakh and the record has increased in the investigation.
