Dehradun: The trio of Modi-Shah and Nadda in Uttarakhand can surprise everyone by betting on any face in the matter of the CM's election. Knowing this, the race for the chief minister's chair has begun in the BJP. Of course, no one is coming out in the open for the chief minister's post, but Arman is pushing for almost every big leader.

The result is that there is a strong buzz in political circles that the BJP can hand over the reins of power only to Pushkar Singh Dhami. Pushkar Singh Dhami could not break the myth of losing the elections when he was cm. However, in this election fought on his face, the BJP managed to get a two-thirds majority. The same argument is being coined in favour of the possibility of Dhami being made the CM.

The same discussion of Maharaj and Dhan Singh's names is not echoing only Dhami's name for the chief minister's post. One of the newly-elected MLAs, who are being considered as strong contenders for the CM's post, is senior leader Satpal Maharaj. Maharaj, who won the election for the second time from Chaubattakhal in Pauri district, has been an MP from Garhwal and has also served as a minister at the Centre. The other name is that of Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, who won from Srinagar Garhwal. Dhan Singh from the Sangh background is considered to have a strong foothold in the organization. According to regional and caste equations, some more names are being discussed among the MLAs. In the same discussions, the names of Madan Kaushik, Ganesh Joshi and Subodh Uniyal, Vinod Chamoli as Brahmin faces among the senior MLAs have started. The names of Banshidhar Bhagat and Arvind Pandey from Kumaon are also in the headlines.
