New Delhi: After facing heavy criticism and flak after banning the entry of only women in the country's capital, Jama Masjid, its Imam has given his consent to lift the ban. Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena spoke to Bukhari in this regard. Bukhari has said that the ban can be lifted if women maintain the dignity and sanctity of the mosque premises.

Quoting sources, it has been told in the media report that in view of this anti-women behavior of Jama Masjid, LG VK Saxena spoke to Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari and asked him to cancel the order banning the entry of alone women into Jama Masjid. According to Syed Ahmad Bukhari, the decision to ban girls has been taken after some 'incidents' were reported on its campus. Imam Bukhari has given his consent to rescind the order after talking with the LG. Along with this, he has requested women to maintain the sanctity of the mosque.

According to the report, Bukhari has said that Jama Masjid is a religious place and people are welcome, but girls are coming alone and waiting for boys. This is not the place for that. It is for this that the ban has been imposed. However, the ban has now been lifted.
