Shimla: Himachal Pradesh's Jairam government has passed an ordinance on 30 per cent cut in the salary of leaders in constitutional posts including CM, Assembly President, Ministers, Vice-Presidents, MLAs in the monsoon session of the Assembly for the next one year. The ordinance also suggested on the part of the CM as to why there was a need to bring an ordinance on salary cuts.

Further, the target of raising funds to fight the war in the wake of the corona has cut the salary of ministers, assembly presidents, vice presidents, chief whips, assembly members and other dignitaries. Therefore, the government passed the ordinance on April 11.

The state government had decided to cut after the decision of salary cut during COVID-19. It was decided that the amount raised from this deduction would be credited to the CM Corona Fund, and will be spent as per requirement. CM Jairam Thakur also spoke strongly against the opposition MLA over the MLA's salary being cut in the middle of the COVID-19 threat. He said, "If the opposition is unhappy with the salary, please write down. All money will be refunded. Many changes have been made, and these decisions have been taken due to corona".
