Bhubaneswar: According to data released by odisha's health ministry on Thursday, 6097 new cases of corona infection have been registered in the state in the last 24 hours. During this time 8032 patients have also recovered from corona infection. Today, the number of recoverable cases is higher than the cases of newly revealed infections.

Within the last 24 hours, 44 people have lost their lives due to corona. So far a total of 3167 people have died of corona infection in the state. With the new infection, the number of cases has increased to 8,37,226. Now the number of recoverable cases has gone up to 7,64,673. The number of active cases in the state at present is 69333. According to data released a day earlier on Wednesday, 6,019 new corona cases were registered in Odisha, during which 43 infected people died of corona infection. Earlier on Tuesday, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik had said that the state government is considering initiating an 'unlock' process in low case districts of Covid-19.

CM Patnaik had also directed the administration to ensure full preparedness for the third possible wave of epidemic. In some districts, when covid-19 cases came down, he had said that the state has not been able to get out of the impact of the second wave so far, lockdown is in place across the state. CM Patnaik said the government is considering relaxation of restrictions in districts where infection rates are low in a phased manner.
