Bhubaneswar: Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha closed due to coronavirus has opened for devotees from today. 5 thousand devotees can visit the temple daily. Outsider people will be able to see in the temple from 3 January 2021. According to the media report, it has been said by the temple administrators committee and the district administration that devotees from outside will be able to enter the temple only after the coronavirus test.

This is the first time that from today, only the temple's servant Panda (priest) and his family members will be able to enter the temple for 3 days. Only the people of Puri Municipal Corporation area will be allowed for the next 6 days. It is being told that people from different wards will be able to visit inside on different days and times. To stop the spread of Coronavirus in the country, a lockdown was imposed from 24 March. A day later, on March 25, the Sri Jagannath temple was closed. After about 9 months the temple is open to devotees.

Jitendra Mohanty, public relations officer in charge of Shri Jagannath Temple Trust said that from today the temple has been opened for darshan. Different people will be allowed to enter the temple on different days so that the temple is not crowded. On the first day, the temple-related servant Panda, who has a population of about 2500, has been allowed to see God from 23 to 25 December.
