New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor has always been in the news for his tweets. This time he took a dig at 'OSOWOG'Â the abbreviation of the India-UK-led solar energy initiative through tweets. He said on Tuesday that 'Vogue' is a British word disrespecting 'Willie Oriental Gentleman' like us.
Â
Can't believe the acronym for the new UK-India "One Sun One World One Grid" is OSOWOG. WOG is a Brit term of insult for the likes of us Wily Oriental Gentlemen, and "Oh So Wog!" sounds like a nasty put-down. Can only have been dreamed up by someone at @PMOIndia with a tin ear. https://t.co/dqQPDpTEKF

In fact, India spoke of 'One Sun, One World, One Grid' (OSOWOG) at the COP-26 Climate Change Summit in Glasgow, aiming to exploit solar energy where sunlight is and supply the accumulated energy where it is most needed. Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "It is not believed that The New UK-India initiative 'One Sun, One World, One Grid' is abbreviated as OSOWOG.''
Tharoor wrote in his tweet that Vogue is a word to insult willie oriental gentleman like us and 'Oh so vogue.' It sounds extremely ugly. It can only be dreamt of by a raw-eared person in the Prime Minister's Office. According to the Mary Webster dictionary, the term Vogue is used to "despise black foreigners, especially those from West Asia or the Far East."
