Over 92 tonnes of food baskets are distributed by KSRelief in Marib

RIYADH: The distribution of 92 tonnes and 127 kilograms of food baskets by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) benefitted 5,166 people in Yemen's Marib province.

It is a component of the Food Security Assistance Project 2022, which KSRelief is implementing in Yemen with the goal of distributing more than 192,000 food baskets to disadvantaged and affected families in 15 Yemeni governorates. The project will weigh over 20,000 tonnes of food.

Additionally, from 28 November to 4 December, KSRelief carried out its volunteer medical project for special surgeries in The Gambia.
Since the start of the campaign, the volunteer medical team has performed 105 surgeries.

A total of 1,644 winter bags were distributed by KSRelief to 11,508 people in Pakistan.
This fits into the context of relief and humanitarian projects as well as volunteer programs that Saudi Arabia, represented by KSRelief, is running for a number of friendly and charitable nations.

The Arab League's Hunger Eradication, Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture subcommittee met for the eighth time on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Its main objective was to implement the "United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger", which aims to end food insecurity and malnutrition in the region. Sudan served as the chair of the meeting.

Food security has been ranked as one of the top priorities for United Arab action, according to Nada El Azzi, director of sustainable development and international cooperation at the Arab League.

In February, in Cairo, during the Fourth Arab Week for Sustainable Development, the "Strategic Framework for Zero Hunger in the Arab Region" was unveiled.

According to a UN study published in June 2021, the Arab world's efforts to end hunger by 2030 were at risk as hunger in the region was on the rise.
