Lucknow: With the increasing pollution in the atmosphere, the oxygen level of people's bodies is falling rapidly. This has led to the death of patients with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Two patients have died due to a COPD attack due to pollution. Along with this, it is being revealed in the ABG investigation that the amount of carbon dioxide in the body of these patients is increasing. Complications are increasing in post covid patients due to air pollution. They are getting secondary infections.

Pollution is also affecting patients with respiratory diseases. The reduction in pollution in the covid lockdown had brought relief to these patients, but now the difficulties have increased. Ramlal (58) and Ashutosh Verma (61) of Nawabganj, COPD of Naubasta in Kanpur district, have died. The family members of the deceased said that the ABG report found increased carbon dioxide in the blood. Dr SK Katiyar, former principal of GSVM Medical College and Dr Rajiv Kakkar, Senior Chest Physician, said that the problems are increasing due to pollution in COPD and asthma patients.

Along with this, the problems of post covid patients, whose lungs were coming in normal condition, have also increased. Apart from shortness of breath, some patients also have problems with pneumonia. In this situation, the elderly, children and COPD and asthma patients need to take special care.
