Chidambaram tweeted on Thursday, writing that, 'PM-CARES has allocated Rs 1000 crore for migrant laborers. Please do not make a common mistake. This money will not be given to the migrant laborers, but to the state governments to meet the expenses of travel, housing, medical and food expenses of the migrant workers. Congress leader Chidambaram said that "nothing will go in the hands of migrant laborers".

He said, Worker, who has crossed all the odds and returned to his village. There are no jobs in the village. He has no work nor any means of income. How will he survive and run his family? 3100 crores have been sanctioned from the PM Cares Fund for the battle of Corona. Out of 3100 crores, 2000 crores will be used to buy ventilators. 1000 crores will be used to look after migrant laborers and Rs 100 crores will be spent on research for medicine.
