New Delhi: Renowned Indian badminton player and two-time Olympic medalist P V Sindhu has been chosen as the goodwill ambassador for this year's 'Earth Hour India' campaign, which aims to raise awareness about environmental issues. The Earth Day is set to be commemorated on March 23.

Expressing her commitment, Sindhu stated, "I am proud to support WWF-India's Earth Hour initiative by taking steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle and spending quality time amidst nature."

As part of her involvement, Sindhu announced, "I pledge to dedicate an hour for Earth by swapping my regular gym sessions with outdoor workouts in nature once a week. I invite everyone to join me in this Earth Hour movement to contribute positively towards the planet's well-being. Let's make this Earth Hour the most impactful one yet."

Ravi Singh, the Secretary-General and CEO of WWF-India, highlighted that the 'Give an Hour for Earth' campaign extends beyond simply turning off lights. "Every year, during Earth Hour, individuals worldwide voluntarily switch off non-essential lights for an hour," he explained.

Singh emphasized, "It is a global movement that continues to inspire and mobilize people, reminding us of our shared responsibility to build a brighter and more resilient future for our planet."
