There are many bandits in the history of India, the story of some bandits that you may have thought that they must have been persecuted a lot or were forced by the system to become rebels. The story of Paan Singh Tomar of Morena district of Madhya Pradesh is similar. Paan Singh, who was 6.5 feet high, became a bandit after rubbing his shoes for 8 years for his land. He was earlier posted as a subedar in the Army. The bandit was also the national champion. He held the post of Subedar for 7 years. He once killed his relative Babu Singh in a land dispute. After this incident, Paan Singh declared himself a rebel.

Paan Singh, who once ran for the country, was now running in the ravines. Within a few days, Paan Singh became a dacoit of the entire Chambal valley, crushing the ravines. It is said that there are no lions in the Chambal Valley filled with Kanto, but the world named Paan Singh the Lion of Chambal. Once Paan Singh spoke, the entire Chambal valley would tremble. And the policemen themselves trembled in the name of Paan Singh. Paan Singh used to appeal to the bandits involved in his gang not to get drunk. According to Balwant, Paan Singh's nephew, Paan Singh was a funny person. He used to make the most fun from the old ones. Paan Singh, who was fond of playing cards, loved holding the threshold in the cards (a game of cards). Paan Singh's daughter Attakali said Paan Singh came home three to four times at the time of lookout but he did not bring anything at home but used to take 400-500 rupees from the house.

Ten companies of BSF, 15 companies of STF were deployed to nab Paan Singh. Thereafter, the District Force was different. Crores of rupees were spent by the government to nab dacoit Paan Singh. Virendra Singh, one of Paan Singh's enemies, was under police protection 24 hours a day for fear of Paan Singh. In 1981, Paan Singh's brother Mata Din was killed in a police encounter, in retaliation for which Paan Singh killed six persons belonging to the Gurjar community. The incident rocked the politics of Madhya Pradesh. Paan Singh then challenged Arjun Singh, CM of Madhya Pradesh, directly. Arjun Singh lost this. He then ordered Paan Singh to be caught alive or dead. Later, the then DSP lured the people of Paan Singh's village with jobs and made a mask to nab Paan Singh. Paan Singh is said to have been surrounded and killed by a force of about 10,000 in October 1981.
