Pakistan's newly-elected Prime Minister Imran Khan has also now supported the punishment of a lecturer accused of blasphemy. Speaking from a public forum at an event, he said that such people should get this kind of punishment. Imran Khan, who usually talks about human rights, only opposes such decisions, but now people are also surprised at him after the lecturer is sentenced to death.

It is known that a District and Sessions court in Pakistan has sentenced a lecturer of Multan to Bahauddin Zakaria University to death on charges of blasphemy. The accused's name is Junaid Hafiz, who was working as a guest lecturer in the English Literature Department at the university. He was arrested on 23 March 2013 on charges of blasphemy.

According to the Pakistani media report, Additional Sessions Judge Kashif Qayum pronounced the sentence. The court has also imposed a fine of five lakh rupees on the accused Junaid Hafiz. This punishment has been pronounced under Section 295-C (Section 295-C) of Pakistan Penal Code. Hafiz has been kept in the high-security Central Jail of New Central Jail of Multan.

The court has also sentenced Junaid Hafiz to life imprisonment and fine of one lakh rupees under some other charges. The court has said in its judgment that all the convictions will go together and the guilty will not get the benefit of Section 382-B CrPC. This is because mercy is not allowed in the blasphemy law.
