More importantly, England has secured a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1992, and at the same time Pakistan's dream of reaching the semi-finals has been shattered.

The chances of Pakistan reaching the semi-finals are now as unlikely. In this case, Pakistan's run rate will be lower than New Zealand's run rate and Pakistan will fail to reach the semi-finals.
