In Pakistan, a Christian man has been given the death penalty for blasphemy. However, the 37-year-old says that the blame was laid against him when he refused to accept Islam. The supervisor had blamed the person for sending messages disrespecting Islam from his mobile phone.

According to media reports, the name of the person who has been declared a criminal is Asif Parvez. A court in Lahore, Pakistan, also sentenced him 3 years confinement and fined 50 thousand rupees. The court said that after completion of the jail sentence, he should be hanged. Asif has been kept in jail since 2013 for dishonouring Islam. However, Asif refused to accept the allegations levelled against him in the court. He also said that after leaving work in a factory, his former supervisor contacted him and tried to convert him to Islam.

When Asif refused to accept Islam, he was accused of disrespecting Islam. However, the Supervisor has denied the faults imposed on him. Person laws are applicable in Pakistan for blasphemy. Under this, strict punishment is given for disrespect of Islam, Prophet Muhammad, Quran and other religious things or person. In Pakistan, around 80 people are jailed for blasphemy. Half of these have been given the death penalty or life imprisonment. The practice is highly condemnable.
