ISLAMABAD: Recently Pakistan has decided to keep the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh for 3 days from Friday for local non-Sikh devotees. This gurudwara is the last resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism. The Kartarpur Corridor in the Punjab province of Pakistan connects the Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur with the Dera Baba Nanak temple in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, India. Jahan Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETBP) spokesperson Aamir Hashmi told that the (Pakistan) government has decided to close Kartarpur Sahib for 3 days from January 3 to 5 for non-Sikh devotees, so that they can make Kartarpur Complex Narowal particular for a Sikh.

According to the sources, the event should be specially organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh. 'ETBP takes care of the holy places of minorities in Pakistan. Jah Hashmi said that the government has decided to close Kartarpur Sahib for non-Sikhs. So that Sikhs of Pakistan and India can celebrate their Guru's birthday together in the historic Kartarpur campus.

When it was discovered, the officials said that the main event of the birth anniversary of 10th Guru Gobind Singh of Sikhism will be held on 5 January 2020 in Kartarpur. Apart from 2,000 Pakistani Sikhs, officials of ETPB and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee will also participate in this program. He said that strict security measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incident.
