New Delhi:  The Monsoon Session of Parliament will commence today, July 18, with the election for the 15th President of India. During the session, the government is expected to announce 24 Bills including the Press Registration Periodicals Bill, 2022.

The Agnipath plan, rising prices, and unchecked inflation are among the 16 topics that the Opposition has selected for discussion during the monsoon session.

The two candidates competing for election to the Office of the President are Droupadi Murmu of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Yashwant Sinha of the combined opposition. Today's session will start at 11 a.m.

The Weapons of Mass Destruction and Their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Amendment Bill, 2022, would be discussed on the opening day of the monsoon session,  source said.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged the lawmakers to engage in substantive conversation on issues of public concern hours before the start of the legislative session.

"At 11 am, the Monsoon Session of Parliament will start. The nation's citizens anticipate that there will be a fruitful debate in the House on issues that directly affect them. On matters pertaining to the interest of the nation, members should think and communicate favorably.
