West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has convened a meeting of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs to discuss the vice-presidential election. In fact, a meeting of Trinamool Congress MPs has been convened on July 21 to discuss the upcoming session of Parliament and the party's strategy for the vice-presidential election. A statement issued by the party said, "Everyone is informed that Mamata Banerjee has convened an important meeting of all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of the Trinamool Congress to discuss the upcoming session of Parliament and the party's plan for the vice-presidential election."

According to this statement, the meeting will be held on the evening of July 21 at Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kalighat. Let us also tell all of you that, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today announced Jagdeep Dhankhar as its candidate for the Vice-Presidential election. You may know, that Jagdeep Dhankhar is currently serving as the Governor of West Bengal. In fact, there has been a frequent rift between Jagdeep Dhankhar and the West Bengal government and there has been criticism from both sides many times about each other's actions. The election for the post of vice president of the country will be held on August 6.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had targeted the BJP over the presidential election. In fact, he had said that Draupadi Murmu could have been a unanimous candidate if the BJP had spoken to the opposition parties and consulted them before nominating her. Let us also tell you that, Draupadi Murmu is the NDA's candidate in the presidential election. The opposition candidate is former TMC leader Yashwant Sinha.
