Srinagar: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who has termed India's partition on the basis of religion as a big mistake, has received the support of Farooq Abdullah. Agreeing to Rajnath Singh's statement, the National Conference (NC) leader and former CM said he agrees with Rajnath Singh's statement. Abdullah said Indian Muslims suffer because of the partition of India.
Farooq Abdullah said he agrees with Rajnath Singh's statement that the partition of the country was a historic mistake. He said this outside Parliament in Delhi. The former Jammu and Kashmir CM said Indian Muslims are facing difficulties due to this. Farooq Abdullah further said that the wars between India and Pakistan also create religious tensions in the country. If India and Pakistan were one country, such tensions could have been avoided.
The 'Golden Victory Festival' was celebrated to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. Addressing the function, Rajnath Singh had said that the 1971 war showed that the partition of India in the name of religion was a historic mistake at the time of independence from British rule. Rajnath Singh said Pakistan was born in the name of the same religion but even then it could not remain one. Pakistan was defeated in the 1971 war, after which a separate country was formed as a separate Bangladesh.
