In a latest development, Patanjali Ayurved and its CEO, Acharya Balkrishna, have issued an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court concerning misleading advertisements. The apology comes in response to criticism of the company's marketing tactics and its alleged disparagement of modern medicine.

The issue arose when the top court summoned Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna to appear personally on April 2 in light of ongoing controversies surrounding the company's advertising practices. Despite previous assurances given to the Supreme Court in November 2023, promising to refrain from making unsubstantiated claims or criticisms of the medical system, misleading advertisements persisted.

In an affidavit submitted to the court, Acharya Balkrishna expressed regret, explaining that the advertisements released after November unintentionally included objectionable content despite their intention to convey only general statements. Patanjali clarified that these ads were approved by the company's Media Department, which was unaware of the Supreme Court's directives.

Patanjali emphasized its commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle through the consumption of its products, drawing upon ancient literature and ayurvedic research. Additionally, the company criticized the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act as outdated, pointing out that the last amendments were made in 1996 when scientific research in Ayurveda was not as advanced.

The company reiterated its dedication to providing evidence-based solutions for lifestyle-related health issues, leveraging traditional Ayurvedic and yogic approaches. Patanjali aims to alleviate the burden on the country's healthcare system by offering holistic remedies grounded in ancient wisdom.
