Pathanamthitta - Kerala: As many as 7 people, including a child, were injured after a minibus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims overturned near Laha in Pathanamthitta in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Accident Involving Pilgrims' Bus: A minibus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh met with an accident near Pathanamthitta. Seven individuals sustained minor injuries when the bus overturned around 5:30 AM between Laha and Puthukkada. The accident occurred as the bus hit a divider while navigating a curve. The injured were promptly taken to General Hospital Pathanamthitta and Perinad Hospital. Fortunately, their conditions are reported as stable.

Response and Investigation: The Fire and Rescue team swiftly cleared the bus from the road to prevent traffic congestion. An investigation has been initiated into an incident of stone pelting at another bus in Pathanamthitta involving two individuals on a bike. The attackers threw stones at a bus carrying pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, damaging its windows. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The police are examining CCTV footage to apprehend the culprits.

Safety Measures: To ensure the safety of pilgrims, the state health department has arranged bike feeder ambulances and 4x4 rescue vans for prompt rescue operations during accidents at Sabarimala. Additionally, the police and Motor Vehicle Department have deployed personnel to enhance pilgrim safety.

Pilgrim Visits: Despite these incidents, over 1.6 lakh pilgrims have visited the Sabarimala temple since the Mandala-Makaravilakku season commenced.

These incidents highlight the importance of safety measures and swift responses in safeguarding pilgrims visiting Sabarimala.
