The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defence, has recently advised India to remain on alert. In fact, the Pentagon says that the Taliban government can benefit India's anti-terrorist organizations, especially those around Kashmir. In fact, a top Pentagon official recently made a statement saying, "India is concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan, but India also needs to be concerned that the Taliban government can provide assistance to terrorist organizations around Kashmir.''

On the other hand, US Under Defence Secretary Dr Colin H. Kahal told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee during a hearing on Afghanistan, South and Central Asia security that, "I am sure you are aware that India is concerned about the situation in Afghanistan." They are also very upset about the instability and anti-terrorism concerns there. He also says, "India's policies towards Afghanistan are largely conceived keeping in mind competition and proxy conflict with Pakistan. This is also one of the reasons why India should not be less concerned about the apprehension that the Taliban government can benefit anti-India terrorist organizations, especially those around Kashmir.''

In fact, the Defence Secretary, Dr Colin H. Kahal says India wants to work with us on these issues, including intelligence sharing wherever we can cooperate with them. It provides us with opportunities to cooperate with India not only in relation to Afghanistan and against terrorism, but also on broad erased regional security issues in the Indian Ocean and in the Indo-Pacific.
