New Delhi: If you live in the national capital Delhi and are over the age of 25, you can keep 9 litres of country-foreign liquor and 18 litres of beer in your house. The Delhi High Court gave the verdict while quashing a case registered against a man for illegal storage of liquor and beer.

Justice Subramanium Prasad, in his judgement, said that a person above the age of 25 years can hold nine litres of country-made foreign liquor i.e. whisky, vodka, gin, rum and 18 litres of beer i.e. wine and alcohol. He gave the verdict while quashing the case registered against Avjit Saluja for allegedly illegal liquor vending. The police had recovered 132 bottles of liquor from Saluja's house.  

These 132 bottles contained 51.8 litres of vodka, whiskey, rum, gin and 55.4 litres of wine, beer, alcopop. After this, a case was registered against Saluja under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act, 2009 for possessing such a large quantity of liquor without a license. The accused Saluja had filed a petition in the High Court seeking quashing of the case. Hearing this, the Delhi High Court has now given this verdict.
