Assuring the public, the Philippines' seismology agency communicated via a popular social media platform that while no significant damage was anticipated, cautionary alerts regarding potential aftershocks were issued. The earthquake's intensity was measured at 5.9, occurring at a depth of 79 kilometers (49.09 miles).

Media reports, disseminated on the same social media platform, portrayed scenes of government employees exiting prominent buildings such as the senate, presidential palace, and the justice ministry. Concurrently, students from various universities also swiftly vacated their premises in response to the seismic activity.

Initially registered at a magnitude of 6.2 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the quake was subsequently revised downward to 6.0 after reassessment.
