New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices have gone up for the third day. This is the first time that petrol has come close to 120 and diesel to 110 in the country. Petrol is being sold at Rs 119.05 and diesel at Rs 109.88 per litre in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Domestic oil companies have issued new petrol and diesel prices for today, Friday, October 22.

In Delhi, petrol prices have once again gone up by 35 paise, while diesel has also become costlier by 35 paise. Petrol has now gone up to Rs 106.89 per litre in the country's capital Delhi, while diesel has gone up to Rs 95.62 per litre. Petrol is being sold at 112.78 paise per litre in Mumbai, diesel is selling at Rs 103.63 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol is being sold at 107.44 paise per litre and diesel is selling at Rs 98.73 per litre.

Why is the price highest in Sriganganagar in Rajasthan, while fuel prices are low in other cities of Rajasthan? This is because Rajasthan imposes the highest VAT on petrol and diesel in the country. Transportation is the most expensive petrol in Sriganganagar, with petrol prices rising due to transport expenses. In fact, earlier there was a depot in Hanumangarh, which was closed in September 2011, since then petrol has to be ordered from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and this increases the cost of transport. This increases the price of petrol by about Rs. This money is not given by the company, but it is collected from the consumers.
