Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved a 34-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. The match saw two blistering knocks from two opposing batsmen. It seemed as if it was Andre Russell vs Hardik Pandya in match 47 of the IPL. Amir the show of these batsman, Piyush Chawla, who has been a veteran for KKR in the IPL, achieved a massive feat.
Piyush Chawla became the 2nd Indian bowler and third overall to take 150 wickets in IPL. He stood just one wicket away from achieving the feat and made MI all-rounder Krunal Pandya his 150th victim to join an elite list of bowlers in the IPL. Chawla didn't have an impressive outing though as he was tonked for a lot of runs by an in-form Hardik Pandya, who played a stunning knock to take his side close to victory before they eventually fell short. Chawla finished with figures of 1/57 in his 4 overs.
Chawla now has 150 wickets in 156 games for KKR at an average of 26.86 and an economy of 7.79 including two four-wicket hauls.
Mumbai Indians fell short in the chase despite an incredible effort from Hardik Pandya, who looked in destructive touch as he slammed 91 runs off 34 balls to single-handedly take his side close to the target.
