MUMBAI: Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who represents Mumbai North in the Lok Sabha, has set an ambitious agenda for the area’s development in 2025. His plan includes extensive slum redevelopment, significant infrastructure improvements, and initiatives to boost local tourism, all aimed at transforming the urban landscape of his constituency.
One of Goyal’s top priorities is slum redevelopment. He is focused on providing permanent, high-quality housing to residents, ensuring that they can stay in their current locations. Goyal stressed that the project is already underway, aiming to provide stability and dignity to those living in slum areas.
Infrastructure Improvements: Roads and Railways
In a bid to enhance connectivity and improve daily life for residents, Goyal is pushing forward with major road and railway upgrades. Four railway stations in his constituency, including Kandivali, are set for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). This initiative aims to modernize stations and improve the overall commuter experience with a long-term vision for growth.
Another key project is the extension of the Harbour Line to Borivali, which was announced last year and is set to begin soon. This development promises to ease travel between North Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, offering much-needed relief to daily commuters.
Goyal will hold a meeting on January 4 with relevant department heads to review the progress of these infrastructure projects. They will assess an action-taken report and address any outstanding issues, implementing a time-bound action plan to ensure that the projects stay on track for completion.
Boosting Tourism in Mumbai North
In addition to infrastructure and housing, Goyal is working to harness the tourism potential of Mumbai North. He plans to highlight natural attractions such as the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the region’s scenic coastline. By promoting these areas, Goyal hopes to create economic opportunities and encourage local tourism.
These plans reflect Goyal’s dedication to transforming Mumbai North into a modern, sustainable urban center. By addressing key areas like housing, infrastructure, and tourism, he aims to enhance the quality of life for residents while laying the foundation for long-term development.
As these projects unfold, the residents of Mumbai North can expect a more connected, livable, and vibrant community.
