Mumbai: Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Chandrakant Patil made a big disclosure on Friday. He said that the plan to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was going on for two and a half years. Patil was addressing a function held at Tilak Smarak Auditorium in Pune here. Patil has also been the BJP state president. When the elections were held, Patil was in charge of the state. With Patil becoming a minister recently, the BJP has given the responsibility of the Maharashtra state unit to Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Chandrakant Patil further said- For two and a half years, I was saying that our government will come, I was not mad to say this. I knew our government would come. I was trying to boost the morale of the workers. Actually, for two and a half years we were planning to bring the government. The BJP and Shiv Sena contested the 2019 Assembly elections in Maharashtra in the alliance. Later, when the controversy over the chief minister's post escalated, Uddhav Thackeray took a different path and formed the government in the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition in support of NCP, Congress and other parties. Two-and-a-half years later, the Shiv Sena split and MLAs rebelled against Thackeray in support of Eknath Shinde. Subsequently, the Shinde faction joined hands with the BJP and formed a coalition government in the state.

On June 30, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis as deputy CM. After that, the then BJP state president Chandrakant Patil said that the party has decided to make Eknath Shinde CM in place of Devendra Fadnavis with a heavy heart.
