New Delhi: Hearing was adjourned for four weeks on the petition challenging the laws of the Places of Worship Act 1991, which provided for the maintenance of the nature of the religious places located in the country as on 15 August 1947. This hearing was to be held in the court today. This petition has been filed by Vishwa Bhadra Pujari Purohit Mahasangh.

A hearing was held in the apex court yesterday to challenge the law to maintain the current status of all religious places. The organization named Vishva Bhadra Pujari Purohit Mahasangh has said in its petition filed in the court that this law is against Hindus. They cannot claim those holy temples, including Kashi-Mathura, on which the mosque was forcibly constructed.

Section 4 of the Places of Worship Act, made in 1991, states that the status of all religious places will be kept on 15 August 1947. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, a petition has been sought to repeal the same. Jamiat Ulema A Hind has also reached the top court against this petition. They have requested not to consider this demand.
