Ottawa [Canada], Feb 28 (NT): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not rebut the 'conspiracy theory' that Indian government factions interfered with his trip by approving the visa for Pro-Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal.

Acted in response to a Conservative leader's question about the "allegations" made by a senior government security source, PM Trudeau said, "When one of our top diplomats and security officials says something to Canadians it's because they know it to be true." Adding that it was the previous Conservative government that "torqued the public service every possible way they could."

During Prime Minister Trudeau's India visit, Atwal was officially invited to dine with him at a formal event hosted by Canadian High Commissioner to India Nadir Patel. The invite was later canceled.

Prime Minister Trudeau also received the hostile response over his wife Sophie Trudeau's alleged-photo with convicted pro-Khalistani terrorist.

Terrorist Jaspal Atwal, who was an associated International Sikh Youth Federation which is now-banned and he was sentenced to prison 20 years term for trying to kill the then Punjab cabinet minister Malkiat Singh Sidhu on Vancouver Island in 1986. Atwal later even had confessed that he was the shooter.

Canadian Member of Parliament (MP) Randeep S. Sarai, however, took accountability for inviting Atwal to Trudeau's reception dinner in New Delhi.(NT)
