NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences on Monday for the loss of life in a road accident in Kota, Rajasthan. Furthermore, he announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to each of the deceased's next of kin from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

"The accident in Kota, Rajasthan, is extremely distressing. I wish to express my condolences to the families of those killed in this accident. May God grant him the fortitude to bear this immense sorrow "PM Modi's quote was tweeted by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

"Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund will be given each to the next of kin of those killed in a tragic accident in Kota. The injured would be compensated with Rs 50,000 "It was added.

On Sunday, nine people were killed when a car carrying a wedding party plunged into the Chambal River in Kota.
