New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi today launched the "Ro Pax" Ferry service running from Hazira in Surat to Ghogha of Bhavnagar. Before that, the trial of PAX on November 6 is going to start soon. Hazira to Ghogha will be delivered in just 4 hours and the distance of 370 km can be reduced to about 90 km. On this occasion, PM Modi said that with the introduction of Ro-Pax service between Ghogha and Hazira today has fulfilled the dream of the people of both Saurashtra and South Gujarat over the years.
Pollution will be reduced: On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said, 'Today a new terminal has also been launched in Hazira. With this service, you will save time and your expenses will also be reduced.' Traffic will be reduced by road, it will also help in reducing pollution. In a year, about 80 thousand vehicles and about 30 thousand trucks will be able to take advantage of this new service. This will also save petrol diesel.
Farmers and livestock farmers will get benefits: The Prime Minister further said, 'The biggest thing is that this connectivity of Saurashtra with a big trading centre of Gujarat is going to change the life of this region. Now farmers and livestock farmers of Saurashtra will be more comfortable in bringing vegetables, fruits and milk to Surat. Today, the maritime business-related infrastructure and capacity building in Gujarat is in full swing. Like Gujarat Maritime Cluster, Gujarat Maritime University, CNG terminal at Bhavnagar, many such facilities are coming up in Gujarat.
You will get this way: According to the Prime Minister's Office, the distance of 370 km by sea route is expected to be less than 90 km. The time of cargo travel has been from 10 to 12 hours to about 4 hours. This will save time and fuel and promote the environment and religious tourism in the Saurashtra region of the state. The three-deck Ro-Pax ferry vessel 'Voige Symphony' connecting Hazira in Surat district and Ghogha in Bhavnagar in Saurashtra has a capacity of 30 trucks, 100 passenger cars and 500 passengers and 34 crew and hospitality staff. The ferry service makes three trips daily on the Hazira-Ghogha route, which will transport about half a million passengers, 80,000 passenger vehicles, 50,000 two-wheelers and 30,000 trucks annually.
