Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with more than 170 new IAS officers on Wednesday. During this time, he discussed some elements of good governance, which included the flow of information, maximum utilization of resources and gaining people's trust. 

Modi discussed the central government's ambitious projects along with the IAS officers including the Gram Swaraj campaign and Ayushman Bharat. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, "The Prime Minister encouraged the IAS officers to share their regional training experiences. He also discussed with him some elements of good governance. This included subjects like public participation, information flow, maximum utilization of resources and public confidence in governance. "

As many as 176 IAS officers of the 2016 batch have been appointed as assistant secretaries in different departments of the Central Government under their first appointment. The deployment of these IAS officers is part of a unique initiative initiated by the Central Government to train the bureaucrats. 

According to the rules, the IAS officers are entitled to come to the centre after completing nine years of service in their care. These 176 officers are on HOC appointment in the centre for 13 weeks which will be effective from July 2 this year.
