New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for new goals and a global vision for the next 25 years, asserting that when India celebrates 100 years of independence, India will have worldwide footprints in all aspects of life.
"It's time to make fresh resolutions and swear a new oath... India will commemorate its 100th anniversary of independence in 25 years... India's achievements should be worldwide in this 100-year journey, and our vision should be global as well "PM Modi remarked while speaking at the start of a year-long joint commemoration of the Sivagiri Pilgrimage's 90th anniversary and Brahma Vidhyalaya's Golden Jubilee.
PM Modi further stated that, while many countries have strayed from spirituality and towards consumerism, India should not do so. "When many countries and civilizations around the world turned away from their religions, they chose consumerism over spirituality. However, in India, saints and spiritual leaders have always encouraged good beliefs and deeds "he said.
PM Modi made his remarks days after laying the foundation for the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Gujarat's Jamnagar. PM has earlier stated that countries all over the world are focusing on traditional herbal systems to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and that Yoga has helped people all around the world establish mental balance by reducing stress.
The 21st of June is also designated as International Yoga Day.
