Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated his stance on welcoming global investment in India while emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the work, including manufacturing, is carried out by Indian citizens.

In response to questions regarding the potential entry of Elon Musk's Tesla and Starlink into the Indian market, PM Modi underscored the necessity for investments to benefit the country's youth by providing employment opportunities. He articulated, "Paisa kisi ka bhi laga ho, paseena mere desh ka lagna chahiye, uske andar sugandh mere desh ki mitti ki aani chahiye, taaki mere desh ke naujawan ko rozgar mile" (Whoever wishes to invest can, but it must be built by Indians so that the youth of my country get employment). Addressing Musk's public admiration for him, PM Modi emphasized that Musk's support extends beyond his personal endorsement to a broader endorsement of India as a nation.

The Prime Minister shared insights into his previous interactions with Musk, recalling a visit to the Tesla factory in 2015, where he witnessed Musk's vision firsthand. PM Modi mentioned how Musk accommodated him despite prior commitments, demonstrating his commitment to showcasing his vision for the future. Musk's impending visit to India, as indicated by a recent post on X, has sparked anticipation regarding potential investment plans. While the specific agenda remains undisclosed, there is widespread speculation that Musk may unveil significant investment initiatives during his visit. His interest in India's electric vehicle (EV) market aligns with his vision of making Tesla electric vehicles accessible globally. Musk previously expressed that India, being the most populous country, should have electric cars like any other nation, signaling a natural progression for Tesla's expansion into the Indian market.

additionally, reports indicate that Tesla has inked a partnership with the Tata Group, under which they will procure semiconductors for their EV operations globally. This collaboration underscores the growing synergy between international players like Tesla and prominent Indian conglomerates, positioning India as a key player in the global EV landscape.
