Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a conference of tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district on Sunday, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects totaling ₹7,550 crore for the state, officials announced. According to Ashish Agrawal, the state BJP media cell chief, tribal representatives from across the country will participate in the gathering at Gopalpura.
This marks PM Modi's first visit to the state this year, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections slated for a few months later. Madhya Pradesh holds the highest number of Lok Sabha seats reserved for tribals, totaling six. During his visit, the prime minister will disburse monthly installments to nearly two lakh women beneficiaries under the state's Aahar Anudan Yojana, providing ₹1,500 per month for nutritious food, particularly targeting women from backward tribes.
Additionally, PM Modi will distribute 1.75 lakh 'adhikar abhilekh' (record of land rights) under the SVAMITVA scheme, ensuring documentary evidence of land ownership for citizens. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Tantya Mama Bhil University, a ₹170 crore project aimed at providing world-class infrastructure for the holistic development of students from tribal-dominated districts.
Furthermore, PM Modi will transfer funds amounting to ₹55.9 crore for 559 villages under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, supporting various construction activities including Anganwadi Bhawans, health centers, and additional rooms in schools. The prime minister will also inaugurate the 'CM Rise School' in Jhabua, equipped with modern facilities like smart classes and e-Libraries.
Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate and lay foundation stones for multiple projects aimed at strengthening water supply and drinking water provisioning in Madhya Pradesh. Rail projects including the redevelopment of Ratlam and Meghnagar railway stations, and doubling of railway lines, along with road development projects totaling over ₹3,275 crore, will also be inaugurated or initiated during the event.
Moreover, the prime minister will dedicate other development initiatives such as waste dumpsite remediation and electric substations, aiming to boost overall infrastructure and economic development in the region.
