NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to distribute over 71,000 appointment letters today, December 23, to newly recruited individuals via video conferencing. This initiative is part of the Rozgar Mela, aimed at fostering employment opportunities and self-empowerment among the youth. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced that Modi will also address the participants during the ceremony.
The Rozgar Mela, being held at 45 locations across India, is a step towards fulfilling Modi's commitment to job creation and nation-building. New recruits from across the country will be joining various government Ministries and Departments. These include the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Posts, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services, and more.
This initiative forms a part of the government’s larger effort to fill vacant positions in a mission mode, ensuring that qualified individuals are recruited for key roles in the public sector. Through the Rozgar Mela, new employees will be inducted into Ministries, Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), Autonomous Bodies, and other vital institutions such as health and education sectors, as well as public sector banks.
Employment generation and improving the employability of youth are key priorities for the central government. To further this goal, the government has launched various programs, including the Aatmanirbhar Bharat package, aimed at boosting employment opportunities and fiscal stimulus. This package has introduced long-term policies and schemes, such as the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY), Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, PM GatiShakti, and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).
Flagship programs such as Make in India, Start-up India, Stand-up India, Digital India, and Smart City Mission have been established to create jobs across the country. Moreover, state-level Rozgar Melas, organized by state governments, further support the national employment generation mission.
This nationwide effort reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing business opportunities, supporting self-reliance, and generating large-scale employment for the country’s youth.
