New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was to visit West Bengal today, December 30, will now join the scheduled programmes via video conferencing. After the passing away of the Prime Minister's mother Heeraben in Ahmedabad earlier on Friday, the PMO made the announcement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached in his hometown to participate in the last rites of his mother Heeraben Modi, has been attending various programmes scheduled in West Bengal through video conferencing on Friday.

Taking to tweet, the PMO noted as follows: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join today’s scheduled programmes in West Bengal via video conferencing. These programmes include the launch of key connectivity-related projects and the meeting of the National Ganga Council."

The PMwill virtually lay foundation of projects worth over Rs 7800 crore in the state. He will  also flag off Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri.

The Prime Minister will also unveil Joka-Taratala stretch of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro and lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various Railway projects.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate four railway projects to the Nation, among a number of programmes scheduled for the day.
