Ghaziabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the highly-anticipated RapidX, also known as the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), in Ghaziabad on October 20th. The inauguration ceremony will take place in the secure surroundings of Vasundhara Sector 8, where enhanced security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all attendees. Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister is expected to address a public gathering in the same venue.
As preparations for the event intensify, residents of nearby neighborhoods have received specific instructions to refrain from accessing their terraces or balconies on the day of the ceremony. A notice issued by the In-charge Inspector of Indirapuram Kotwali underscores the importance of security, urging residents to cooperate by undergoing identity verification procedures. Any new entrants to the community are advised to promptly notify the police and provide valid identification documents for scrutiny.
To further fortify security, a contingent of police personnel will be stationed in the Vasundhara area. Drones will be employed for vigilant monitoring, and police officers will be deployed on the rooftops of surrounding residential complexes. For added security, the Sahibabad RRTS station will be temporarily closed to the general public on the day of the event. Over 100 CCTV cameras will be strategically placed to oversee the comprehensive security arrangements.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor represents a significant leap in transportation infrastructure, promising to significantly reduce travel times for commuters. With the launch of the first phase, the commute between Sahibabad and Duhai will be streamlined to a mere 12 minutes. This marks a major milestone as India's inaugural Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS). Previously, the 20-kilometer journey between Sahibabad and Duhai typically consumed over 35 minutes by road. In this initial phase, spanning 17 kilometers of the overall 82-kilometer route, RRTS officials plan to operate 10 trains, with each train capable of accommodating up to 1,700 passengers.
