NEW DELHI: The logo, theme, and website for India's G20 Presidency for the Summit 2023, the highest-profile international event ever hosted by India, were announced today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The fact that the G20's member countries represent nearly 85% of the world's GDP, more than 75% of its trade, and around 67% of its people gives an indication of its worldwide clout.
India will now hold the G20 presidency from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023 with the release. India has a special opportunity during the presidency to be recognised as a nation that matters on the international agenda for urgent concerns.
The world has been divided by the avian flu pandemic, the conflict in the Ukraine, and other geopolitical events, but India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is anticipated to fight for "re-unifying" it. The Modi government has planned a buildup that would culminate in a leader's summit in September 2023 that will be unprecedented in Indian history in order to take advantage of the opportunities that a world beset by crises is certain to bring about.
The twin track strategy calls for presenting India in a way that has never been done before during the G20 presidency, as well as displaying to the home audience the diplomatic achievements of the Modi government in positioning India to assume leadership responsibilities on the international stage.
The planet Earth and the lotus, the national flower of India, are placed side by side in India's G20 emblem to symbolise the country's distinctive approach to the G20 Presidency, which has respect for Mother Earth at its centre.
The earth in the logo represents India's pro-planet philosophy of living in perfect harmony with nature. The logo is in the brilliant colours of the national flag of India: saffron, white, green, and blue.
The lotus represents all that is fortunate, pure, eternal, and detached.
The Lotus was included with the purpose of incorporating the global difficulties currently being faced. During the decision-making process, a top government official stated, "Lotus is renowned for its capacity to bloom spotlessly in the murkiest of waters. It serves as a moving metaphor for humanity's ability to overcome obstacles.
India is referred to as "Bharat" in Sanskrit, and it appears in the Devanagari script beneath the G20 emblem. The G20 Logo expresses the purpose and main objectives of India's presidency. Since both developed and developing countries are represented in the grouping, the emblem highlights India's ability to create consensus by carefully crafting the story.
