NEW DELHI: On Friday, February 25, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his warmest wishes to Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is now undergoing thyroid surgery.

"I extend my warmest wishes to President @ibusolih for a successful surgery and a quick recovery," the Prime Minister Narendra Modi  stated in response to a tweet from the President of the Maldives. Prime Minister Modi has been praised by President Solih for his kind comments. "Thank you Prime Minister for your warm comments," the President of the Maldives remarked, quoting Prime Minister Modi's tweet.

Information concerning his procedure was shared. Solih wrote on Twitter: "My thyroid surgery is set for this morning, as per my doctors' recommendations. For the duration of my surgery, I will formally notify Speaker of the @mvpeoplesmajlis, and VP @FaisalNasym will temporarily assume my duties. I'm looking forward to getting back to work as soon as possible."
