PM mourns deaths in Khargone bus accident, announces ex-gratia

New Delhi:  15 persons died and 25 others sustained injuries after a private passenger bus fell from a bridge in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district on Tuesday. ,The tragic incident occurred early today at Dongargaon bridge near the Dasanga area under the Oon police station in the district.

Following the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the bus accident that killed 15 people in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, and announ ced ex-gratia for the relatives of the victims. He announced financial help of Rs 2.00 lakh from the PM's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next kin of those deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

"The Khargone traffic disaster is quite tragic. My sympathies go out to those who lost loved ones in tragedy. I hope that everyone who was hurt recovers quickly. The local administration is providing all necessary assistance on the scene under the state government's supervision, the Prime Minister's Office tweeted in Hindi.

The next of kin of each person killed in the bus tragedy in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, would receive an ex-gratia payment from PMNRF of Rs 2 lakh. It stated in another tweet that the injured would receive Rs. 50,000.

Jagdeep Dhankhar, the vice president of India, also  expressed grief for the incident. "It is deeply terrible that so many people lost their lives in a bus accident in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. My sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased. The Vice President tweeted, "I hope for the injured's quick recovery.

Khargone Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharamveer Singh said, "a bus collapsed off a bridge in Khargone, leaving 15 passengers dead and 25 injured. A rescue effort is underway.
The police department and ambulances deployed to the scene as soon as they learned about the event and began the rescue effort.

The state government announced that the families of the deceased would receive Rs 4 lakh apiece, the badly injured would receive Rs 50,000 each, and those who had lesser injuries would receive Rs 25,000 each.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also expressed sympathy for the victims of the bus accident in the Khargone area.
