New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today on Monday (January 16) addressed the first batch of Agniveer. PM Modi interacted with Agniveers through video conferencing and wished them all the best for the future. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was also present on the occasion. During this, PM Modi said that the Agnipath scheme will prove to be a milestone and it will prove to be a game changer in empowering the armed forces and preparing them for future challenges.
The Prime Minister further said that Agniveer will play a leading role in our armed forces in times to come. PM Modi also told that this scheme will make women stronger. He expressed happiness at how women firefighters are bringing pride to the Navy and looking forward to seeing women firefighters in all three forces. Citing examples of women soldiers posted in Siachen and women flying modern fighter aircraft, PM Modi told the Agniveers how women are leading the armed forces on various fronts.
Let us tell you that the training of the first batch of Agniveer has started. After 6 months of training, all Agniveers will be posted in the Indian Army. All Agniveers will be associated with the training camps of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. Let us tell you that on June 14 last year, the government announced the Agnipath scheme for the recruitment of jawans in all three forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force). Since then, the opposition parties were opposing the scheme and demanding its withdrawal. Although the army itself had described this plan as the need of the hour, yet there were a lot of politics over it. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is still opposing the Agniveer scheme during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, the scheme has been implemented and its first batch has also been prepared, now these Agniveers will go to different armies and serve the country.
