New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (November 7) took part in a function organized on the eve of the 553rd birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev. This event has been organized at the residence of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura. PM Modi is constantly involved in programs related to Sikh gurus and also goes to the gurudwara to pay obeisance. During this, PM Modi has said that the pedagogy of Sikh Gurus are showing the way to the whole world going through difficult phases of life like a ray of light.
PM Modi further said that 'When the partition of India took place, the people of our Punjab made sacrifices for the people of the country, the country has also started Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day. We have tried to provide Indian citizenship by bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to bring back the Sikh and Hindu families who were victims of partition. PM Modi said that the importance and realization of Prakash Parv, which has been in the Sikh tradition, today the whole of India are diligently carrying forward the tradition of service and duty in the same. PM Modi further said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji had shown us the way to live life. PM Modi said that in this one sentence of Guru Ji there is spiritual contemplation, there is also a formula for material prosperity and there is also an inspiration for social harmony.
Let us tell you that, the first of the 10 Gurus of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on the full moon date of Kartik month in the year 1469 in a village named Talwandi on the banks of Ravi river. Guru Nanak's father's name was Mehta Kalu and his mother's name was Tripta Devi. Guru Nanak Dev was the founder and first Guru of Sikhism. Hence every year the Sikh community celebrates this day as Gurupurab or Prakash Parv. Now the birth of Guru Nanak Dev is celebrated as Guru Parv all over the world.
