New Delhi: Hitting out at the previous governments, including the Congress, on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi  said that when these parties were in power, these parties had "deployed their four crore fake people on paper" to loot the ration provided to the poor under the Public Distribution System (PDS), Who were not born."

PM Modi further said that his government removed such fake names from the list so that the poor can get their due. PM Modi said this during a digital programme organised to conduct 'griha-pravesh' of 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-G). Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also participated in the event.

PM Modi further said that about five and a half lakh houses built in villages under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are not just a statistic but the identity of the strong-up poor in the country. He also said that the campaign to give the poor their pucca houses is not just a government scheme. It is a commitment to give confidence to the village and the poor. It is the first step in giving the poor the courage to come out of poverty. So far, 2.5 crore houses have been constructed, out of which about two crore houses are owned in the name of women."
