New Delhi: PM Modi has expressed grief over the collapse of the building in a residential area of Mahad in Raigad district of Maharashtra and hopes the injured recovers soon. Tweeting on behalf of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), a prayer has been made for the injured people.

In a tweet from the official Twitter handle of PMO, it is written that "I am saddened by the collapse of the building in Mahad, Raigad, Maharashtra. My condolences to the families of those who lost their relatives. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured. Local officials and NDRF team are at the site of the tragedy, all possible assistance will be provided: PM". A 5-storey building collapsed in Mahad area of Raigad district of Maharashtra on Monday evening. A total of 70-80 people were buried under the debris in the accident.

The NDRF and the fire brigade team reached the spot as soon as the accident was reported. According to the latest information, 50-60 people have been evacuated from the debris. However, 18 people are still said to be buried under the debris. According to the District Collector, 2 people have died in this accident. The five-story building housed 40 families. Shortly before the incident, 20 to 25 family members left the building and went out, but some people still stayed in the building.
